Carson Pegasus Provincial Park.
Carson Pegasus campground contains 182 well treed campsites nicely suited for both RV's and
tents. Tenters will find 12 of the finest walk-in tent sites that are located at
the end of a peninsula and absolutely beautiful. Amenities include group camping, handicap spots, small sandy beach, canoeing & kayaking, play
grounds, picnic shelters, public phone, showers, water, power, picnic tables,
sani dump, swimming areas, boat launch for small water craft, fish cleaning
stations, ice fishing, swimming, hiking, wildlife watching and snowmobiling off
site. Firewood is available for sale.
Carson Pegasus offers excellent Trout fishing. You'll need a
license to try your luck. Fisherman without boats will find a well
constructed lake wall along the shore of McLeod Lake. You can fish from a
park bench or your lawn chair.
If you don't fish you'll want to
after seeing this spot, bring a rod
and reel for sure. Carson Pegasus campground
is great for families with young
children, kids can spend hours
at the beach and nearby playgrounds and
the fish wall.
This campground has a
strong relaxation feel to it, much
more than most. Boaters will find a well designed
easy to use boat launch however
there is a small water craft only and 12kmph boat restriction. You can also rent small
fishing boats and paddle boats here.
McLeod Lake is excellent for
canoeing and kayaking. The Lake
is part of the Athabasca River
drainage basin with an approximate total surface
area of 3.73kms,
average depth of 5.1ms,
maximum depth of
Carson Pegasus Provincial Park also attracts a large
variety of migrating
waterfowl and is a great place for
birders. For those who like to
hike there is a
trail that follows the lakeshore and
5.2km backcountry trail through the
