Jarvis Bay Campground
Aspen Beach Provincial
Park.
The
Jarvis Bay campground is located on
the south east shore of Sylvan Lake approximately
155km
south of the City of
Edmonton,
163km
north of the City of
Calgary
and
19km west of the City of
Red Deer.
Although it is located on the shore
of Sylvan Lake there is really no
access or use of the lake due to the
shore cliff however there is a hand
boat launch for canoes and kayaks.
The nearby
Town of Sylvan
Lake has a large public
beach and a very crowded boat
launch. Expect it hear and see an
incredible amount of boat traffic
and crowds here in the summer
months. There are
a total of 168 sites with
reservations available by calling
1-877-537-2757. This campground
offers campsites for both tents and
larger RV's, group camping, handicap
spots,
play grounds, picnic shelters, public
phone, showers, water,
fire wood, picnic tables, sani dump,
hiking and bird watching. A golf
course and farmers market are also
located nearby. There are a few
short hikes leading from the
campground that wind through the
parks bush and forest.
The camp sites are well treed and
located
in the surrounding
Boreal Forest. Due to it's
close proximity to
Red Deer,
Calgary
and
Edmonton
it fills fast on weekends.
Brewers
campground and
Lakeview
Campground are located
approximately
20km
north of here. Night skies rank # 5 on
the
Bortle Scale.
