Description:
Two
O'clock Creek campground is well suited for both tents and RV's offering
20 campsites with picnic tables and fire
pits. Fire wood is available for a fee. Most of the campsites are located on
open grass with a few choice sites next to Two
O'clock Creek. Bring a good insect
repellent. No See Ums can be nasty in this area. Amenities include water,
dry toilets, group camp
kitchens with wood burning cook
stoves. The adjoining group campground is nicely spaced and one of the nicest in
Alberta. The North Saskatchewan river is located a short walk south of the
highway. This area is very important to the local Stoney Indians. Native peoples
along with Stoney Indians have resided here for centuries and consider most of
this land sacred. One can see why they settled here, weather is warm and dry
with little rain or snow. In fact it is classified as the driest location in the
Canadian Rockies. The private land west of the campground is home to native Vision Quest and Sundance Ceremonial
sites. Vision Quest
sites have
several strips of colored cloth tied to trees
in a ceremonial fashion. If you
unintentionally hike into one leave only the air you breath. Night skies here rank # 1 on the
Bortle Scale. See the official web site
link below for fees, opening and closing
dates.
