Cirque and Chephren Lakes Hike In Banff National
Park.
The
trailhead for Cirque
and Chephren Lakes is located at the
south west end of the Waterfowl
Lakes campground. Both Cirque Lake
and Chephren Lake are easy hikes
that climb through an old growth
spruce forest. Cirque Lake at an
elevation
150 meters has more
elevation gain then Chephren Lake at
an elevation of
80 meters. They are
both approximately
4km one
way, allow 2.5 hours return trip for
either one. Cirque Lake is located
against the peaks of the Great
Divide, Mount Midway, Mount Stairway
and Mount Aries. There is a small
Glacier on Mount Midway at the south end
of Cirque Lake The trail to
Chephren Lake offers outstanding
views of Howes Peak and Mount
Chephren but
the trail winds through a lot of
muddy boggy areas. You'll appreciate
a good pair of water proof
hiking boots
here. Both these
alpine lakes are beautiful and well worth the effort.
Peyto Lake
Hike,
Helen Lake,
Cirque Peak,
Bow Falls Hike,
Bow Lake Lookout
Hike and
Mount Hector
Alpine Climb are all located
near here.
You are in
bear country.
