Description

Trailhead: Located on the south west end of Crandell Campground in Waterton National Park.

Description: This trail is a favorite for mountain bikers so expect to share the trail. Follow the well worn trail as it gently winds it’s way up through an old growth spruce and fir forest. Within 45 minutes or so, you’ll arrive at Crandell Lake and Crandell Lake Back Country Campsite.

The lake is crystal clear with an inviting pebble beach located along the lakes south west shore. Near the beach you’ll find a covered cook shelter that is excellent for picnics. Strong hikers can continue on towards the Akamina Parkway and the Waterton Townsite. Crandell Lake offers good Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout fishing. You’ll need a fishing license to try your luck, check regulations for closures. Ice is usually off the first week of July. You Are In Bear Country
