Description
Trailhead: Park at the Miette Hot Springs parking lot 61kms north of Jasper in Jasper National Park. The trail head sign marker is located next to the southeast corner of the parking lot.
Description: Sulphur Skyline is one of the best half day hikes found in the Jasper area. Follow the paved path leading east, pavement ends after a 100 meters or so. Crowds of people that are mostly visiting the Miette Hot Springs will be on this paved section of the trail.
Keep going approximately 2.5Km until you reach a T intersection. The trail continues straight ahead towards Mystery Lake, take the trail to your right leading up to Sulphur Skyline. From this point on, the trail gets much steeper. As you gain altitude mountain views towards the west horizon come into view and helps renew your energy.
Keep working your way up past a small meadow then hike the final short rocky section to the summit ridge. If the weather is bad at the meadow expect the summit weather to be extreme. When you arrive at the meadow you’ll see a large boulder that makes a good wind break. This rock is a nice spot to eat your lunch or layer up for the summit.
Views from Sulphur Ridge are absolutely stunning. The hot springs can be seen way below. Views at the east end of the ridge look straight down towards the Fiddle River. During late June and the month of July several varieties of wildflowers are blooming along the entire trail. You are in bear country
