Location: Gravel road #40. 70kms east of Hinton, 340kms west of Edmonton Alberta. Note 38km gravel road access.
Description: Watson Creek campground contains 38 campsites suited for both RV’s and tents with a few choice sites located next to the McLeod River. Most of the campsites are nicely surrounded by mature spruce tress providing good privacy.
Amenities include water, picnic tables and dry toilets. Firewood is available for sale. Watson Creek has good Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout and Brook Trout fishing. Check for catch and release regulations you’ll need a fishing license to try your luck. Watson
Creek Campground has a remote feel. Not many venture this far over gravel roads. The campground makes an excellent base camp if you want to explore the Cadomin area. Cadomin Mines and it’s ghost town is an interesting place to visit. Located only 10 minutes west of here the ghost towns general store contains interesting historical information.
Several of the old miners houses are still standing. If you like to look at large modern mining equipment you’ll find lots of it here. Cadomin Cave is also located nearby. I did see fish jumping in the ponds located near the entrance to the town of Cadomin.
Night skies here rank #4 on the Bortle Scale. This is bear country, food and food related items must be stored properly.
