Location/Description
Location: 20kms southwest of Grande Cache and 140kms northwest of Hinton. Note 7km gravel road access.
Description: Sulphur Gates campground contains 11 campsites for both RV’s and tents however better suited for equestrian users. Amenities include picnic tables, water, fire wood available for sale, dry toilets, corals, horse loading ramps and hitching rails.
This equestrian campground is located near the Wilmore Wilderness area and is mainly used as a staging area for horse outfitters or backcountry hikers. If you’re looking for untouched wilderness and absolute isolation you can find it here. Wilmore Wilderness area is adjacent to Jasper National Park. The Smoky River flows along the campground and offers good fishing for Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout and Rocky Mountain Whitefish.
