Location/Description
Location: Just east of Banff National Park. South side of the #11 David Thompson highway 9kms east of Saskatchewan Crossing. Kootenay Plains Alberta.
Description: Thompson Creek campground is well suited for both tents and RV’s offering 54 well treed campsites with picnic tables and fire pits. Fire wood is available for a fee. Amenities include water, dry toilets and sheltered camp kitchens with wood burning cook stoves.
Access to a scenic trail with views of the Saskatchewan River valley is located across the bridge in the second campground loop. This short hike is well worth the effort. Saskatchewan Crossing in nearby Jasper National Park has a restaurant, souvenir shop, gasoline and diesel fuel however prices are high. Thompson Creek campground has the same feel as the National Parks but less fees and fewer people.
Night skies here rank #1 on the Bortle Scale. This is bear country, food and food related items must be stored properly.
