Two O’clock Ridge Hike

Trailhead: Park at the Two O’clock Creek Campground next to the David Thompson #11 highway. 210kms west of Rocky Mountain House. 

Description: Locate the trailhead near the outhouse at the nw corner of the campground. Follow the trail a short distance through an aspen forest. When you arrive at a trail junction take the trail to your right aiming for the ridge you see covered in old burnt timber. Rock step across Two O’clock Creek and continue on as it gains elevation.

At the end of this first ridge the trail drops down to your left for a short distance then works it’s way up to Two O’clock Ridge. Stay on the trail and keep working your way up for another 2+ hours. After passing a few hoodoos and exposed cliffs on your left the next 100ms or so turns into a steep grind with a short section of bushwhacking. Before long you’ll cross the tree line and arrive at the start of the open ridge.

From here the going gets easy and the end is now in sight. Views below from the summit ridge to the west, east and north Saskatchewan River Valley are stunning. Tuff Puff ridge is located directly to the southwest separated by a beautiful green meadow lying in the hanging valley below you. The summit ridge is somewhat unusual as it is covered in very large boulders. You’ll find three cairns on the summit ridge. Two O’clock Creek Campground can also be seen 1km below you. You are in bear country
