Location/Description
Location: Highway #40, 60kms southeast of Grande Cache and 62kms northwest of Hinton Alberta.
Description: Big Berland campground contains 18 campsites suited for both tents and RV’s with a few choice sites backing onto the Berland River. Several sites are surrounded by mature spruce trees providing some privacy.
Amenities include picnic shelter, picnic tables, fish cleaning station, water and dry toilets. Firewood is available for sale. This campground is located near the Wilmore Wilderness area and is often used as a staging area for horses or backcountry hiking.
If you’re looking for untouched wilderness and absolute isolation you can find it in the Wilmore Wilderness area that is adjacent to Jasper National Park. The Berland River flows along the campground and offers good fishing for Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout and Whitefish. You’ll need a fishing license to try your luck.
