Description
Trailhead: Park in the Johnston Canyon parking lot located on the Bow Valley Parkway 26kms West of Banff. Banff National Park.
Description: This scenic hike or walk is possibly the most crowded trail in Banff National Park. Parking is not easy to find and you can expect to share the trail with large crowds of people during both summer and winter months.
The inkpots are less crowded as most people turn around at the second set of falls. The trail is well groomed and winds it’s way up Johnston Canyon towards two sets of water falls. The lower falls are an easy 1.1km walk, the second set of falls are located 2.7kms. Once you reach the upper falls continue on to the Ink Pots for another 3kms where you’ll find 7 underground springs located in a beautiful meadow next to Johnston Creek. The Inkpots deep blue green color and bubbling quicksand bottoms make the hike well worth the extra time and effort. This Is Bear Country.
