Jarvis Bay Campground
Sites
First Come or Reserve
Location/Description
Location: South east shore of Sylvan Lake approximately19kms west of Red Deer Alberta.
Description: Jarvis Bay campground contains 168 well treed campsites for both RV’s and tents. Due to it’s close proximity to Red Deer, Calgary and Edmonton it fills fast on weekends. Amenities include handicap spots, play grounds, picnic shelters, public phone, showers, water, fire wood, picnic tables, sani dump, hiking and bird watching and fire wood available for sale.
Although the campground is located next to Sylvan Lake there is really no access or use of the lake due to the shore cliff. However there is a small boat launch for canoes and kayaks. The nearby Town of Sylvan Lake has a large public beach and boat launch. Expect to see a shocking amount of boat traffic and hordes of people here during the summer months. A golf course and farmers market are also located nearby. There are a few short hikes leading from the campground that wind through the parks bush and forest.
Night skies here rank #5-6 on the Bortle Scale.
