Location/Description
Location: Located on the Ice Fields Parkway near the Columbia Icefields 78kms south of Jasper. Jasper National Park.
Description: The campground is situated next to Jonas Creek containing 25 campsites. Amenities include, dry toilets, potable water, sheltered camp kitchen with a wood burning cook stove, fire pits, garbage bins and bear proof food storage lockers. Fire wood is available when purchasing a fire permit.
Jonas Creek Campground may rank as the worst campground in Jasper National Park. It’s not suited at all for RV’s. It’s very small and located right next to the highway. Tent campers who want to avoid RV’s may prefer this site however most of the campsites are not level and there is very little to do or see.
Due to it’s location on the Icefields Parkway Jonas Creek is logistically popular with those touring on a Bicycle. Night skies here rank #1-2 on the Bortle Scale. This is bear country, food and food related items must be stored properly
