Location/Description
Location: North side of the #1 Trans Canada Highway 25kms east of Canmore, 61kms west of Calgary. Bow Valley Provincial Park Kananaskis country Alberta.
Description: Lac Des Arcs campground is located right next to the Trans Canada highway and contains 36 open campsites for both RV’s and tents. Expect lots of highway noise here. The campground is best suited for one night stays while passing through the area.
It fills fast on weekends due to it’s close proximity to Canmore and the City of Calgary. Amenities include, playground, small water craft boat launch, water, dry toilets, camp kitchen, picnic tables and fire pits. Fire wood is available when purchasing a fire permit. Lac Des Arcs is popular with windsurfers due to strong wind conditions created by the bow valley mountain corridor. The Exshaw concrete plant is located across the lake on the north shore. Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Whitefish can be caught in the nearby Bow River. You’ll need a fishing license to try your luck.
