Description

Trailhead: Rowe Lakes Tamarack (Lineham Ridge) trailhead is located on the Cameron Lake road approximately 9.5km from the town of Waterton in Waterton National Park.

Description: This may be considered one of the best hikes in Waterton National Park. Lineham Ridge is a scenic hike that extends past Rowe Lakes. Follow the Tamarack trail towards Rowe Lakes.

When you arrive at the meadows below upper Rowe Lake cross the log bridge then follow the signed trail to Lineham Ridge on your right. The following long traverse can hold snow well into mid July. As you traverse the Rowe Valley head wall and gain elevation upper and lower Rowe Lakes come into view below.

Follow the scree trail as it curves underneath Lineham ridge until you reach the saddle. Mount Lineham is straight on however turn left and follow the Lineham Ridge a short distance until you reach a cairn marking the high point of the ridge.

Views from here are absolutely stunning. Lineham Lakes can be seen directly below you. You’ll be looking down over a cliff that rises several thousand feet above the lakes. Take note of Lineham Lakes elevation in the event you’re ever standing under Lineham Falls way below. Spectacular views towards Mount Lineham, Akamina Ridge, Rowe Lakes and Glacier National Park in the US will keep you company as you eat your lunch. You Are In Bear Country

It’s a long day hike with incredible views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Well worth the effort.
