Location/Description
Location: 42kms south of Highwood Station on gravel road #54A that intersects the #40 Kananaskis Trail highway. 92kms southwest of Longview. Kananaskis Country.
Description: Livingston Falls Campground contains 22 campsites for both RV’s and tents. Amenities include dry toilets, hand operated water pump, garbage bins, picnic tables and fire pits. Dry firewood is available here for sale.
Livingstone River runs alongside the campground with beautiful Livingston Falls located within walking distance. Unfortunately the access to this campground is over a 42km dusty gravel road. I’m sure this is why you’ll find very few people here. Most will consider that a plus.
You will pass a few large Inukshuks on the way that were placed by local oil companies operating in the area. There is some interesting local geology here. The Livingstone River runs along side a rock face that has been eroded to a smooth finish. You’ll see a small square cut out in the rock where a geologist took a sample, see picture below.
The numerous pools below the falls are beautiful and make great swimming holes on hot summer days. Livingston Creek runs crystal clear and is home to wild Cutthroat Trout. You’ll need a fishing license to try your luck. Highwood Station located 42kms north of here provides gas, diesel, limited grocery, sani dump and water are available.
Night skies here rank #1 on the Bortle Scale. This is bear country, food and food related items must be stored properly.

The rock slabs around the falls are spectacular. Campground has a remote feel to it.
