Location: 89kms west of Edmonton, 2kms north of Entwistle Alberta. Pembina Provincial Park.
Description: Pembina River campground has a total of 132 campsites nicely suited for both RV’s and tents. Amenities include group camping, handicap spots, canoeing & kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, play grounds, picnic shelters, showers, water, power, picnic tables, amphitheater, sani dump and fish cleaning stations. Firewood is available for sale.
Pembina River is good for bird watching and fishing. You’ll need a fishing license to try your luck. Campsites are well treed and located in both open and private settings. Pembina River Campground fills fast on weekends due to it’s close proximity to Edmonton. Reservations are likely needed during the camping season. The Pembina River gorge is located near here. Towering cliffs as high as 62ms can be found in the gorge. You can hike the Riverside Trail that passes the mouth of the Lobstick River with excellent views of the gorge. Pembina River is also great for white water rafting, several local touring companies use this stretch of river for rafting tours. The name “Pembina” is a French Canadian term for ‘High Bush Cranberry’.
