Amenities include group camping, handicap sites, beach, playgrounds, picnic shelters, concession, showers, water, fire pits, toilets, picnic tables, refuse containers, boat launch, fish cleaning station and firewood available for sale. Most of the campsites are surrounded by aspen and spruce trees that provide good privacy with a few choice sites located near the lake.
Golf course, shopping center and farmers market are located nearby. This campground is good for families with young children. Kids can spend hours on the beach and nearby playgrounds. The campground is well maintained but often very crowded and unfortunately the lake is polluted. Swimming is not advised and during blue-green algae blooms avoid any contact with the lake water.
Due to it’s close proximity to Edmonton and Leduc it fills fast on weekends and one of the most heavily used recreational lakes in Alberta especially for power boating. Pigeon Lake is part of the Battle River drainage basin and has an approximate total surface area of 96.7sqkms with an average depth of 6.2ms, maximum depth of 9.1ms.
Pigeon Lake Provincial Park also attracts a large variety of migrating waterfowl and is a great place for birders. Fisherman may catch walleye, northern pike and lake whitefish. You’ll need a fishing license to try your luck. Night skies here rank #3 on the Bortle Scale. This is bear country, food and food related items must be stored properly
