The campground is located in a protected natural area that was once owned by an English settler named Mr. Crichly. He owned a red colored log cabin, hence the name Red Lodge. The trail following the river is very nice, several park benches can be found offering nice views of the area. Mountain bikers will find a few off road trails nearby. Fishing can be good also. The little Red Deer River holds Brown Trout, Brook Trout, Burbot and Whitefish. You’ll need a fishing license to try out your luck
Night skies here rank #3 on the Bortle Scale. This is bear country, food and food related items must be stored properly
