Location/Description
Location: Access a 2.5km causeway from the town of Lac La Biche. 230kms north of Edmonton. Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park Alberta.
Description: Sir Winston Churchill campground contains 72 campsites nicety suited for both RV’s and tents. Amenities include group camping, sandy beach, picnic tables, showers, electricity, water, sani dump, swimming areas, play grounds, amphitheater, boat launch and fish cleaning stations. Firewood is available when purchasing a fire permit.
The nearby town of Lac La Biche provides all the amenities and services one would need including a nearby golf course. Lac La Biche offers excellent Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Perch, Whitefish and Burbot fishing. You’ll need a fishing license to try your luck. This campground is excellent for families with young children. Kids will spend hours on the beach and nearby playgrounds.
Campsites are located both on the lake and in the surrounding old growth forest that offers good privacy. This park is a bird watchers paradise and the breeding grounds for several species of birds. At least 224 of the approximate 330 Alberta bird species have been observed here. Birders will find a public viewing scope for observing American White Pelicans located on the north end of the island. There are several nice hiking trails with open view points and interpretive signs explaining the local wildlife and vegetation.
