Location/Description
Location: Northeast side of the town of Vermilion approximately 192kms east of Edmonton Alberta.
Description: Vermilion campground contains 124 campsites nicely suited for both RV’s and tents. Amenities include group camping, picnic shelters, public phone, flush toilets, showers, water, power, fire wood, picnic tables, horseshoe pits, sani dump, wading pool and play grounds. Firewood is available for sale.
Vermilion Campground is well maintained with a park like setting. There are several hiking trails and a paved path great for biking or rollerblading that runs along the nearby Vermilion River valley. The lakeside trail along the reservoir offers opportunities to view Canada geese, great blue herons, numerous shorebirds and various waterfowl. The 6.3km reservoir created by a dam on the Vermilion River is also good for canoeing or kayaking.
Fisherman may catch Northern Pike, Walleye and Perch. The Town of Vermilion is one of the nicest towns found in Alberta and can be explored in an afternoon. There is also a local farmers market, golf course and driving range located close to the campground. Several sports events and rodeos are held in Vermillion throughout the year.
