Location: South side of the Waterton Town site. Waterton National Park.
Description: Waterton Town Site Campground contains 135 serviced campsites for both RV’s and tents however better suited for larger RV’s. The campground is located on open grass next to Waterton Lake and Cameron Falls.
Winds here can blow your eggs of your plate. Record winds have reached 150kms and 100km winds are not uncommon. It’s recommended to leave your awnings closed and double stake tents. Amenities include, water, electricity, hot showers, flush toilets, kitchen shelters, interpretive programs, food storage, recycle bins, sani dump, picnic tables and fire pits. Fire wood is available when purchasing a fire permit. If you want to explore the town of Waterton, this campgrounds is a perfect location. Restaurants, clothing stores, souvenir shops, boat tours, lodging, ice cream, coffee shops, candy & chocolate shops, liquor stores, limited grocery, gas stations (no diesel fuel available) are all within walking distance.
Waterton Lake holds large Lake Trout the record being 24Kg, 51lbs. You’ll need a fishing license to try your luck. If you decide to go boating on your own beware of the winds and rough water on Waterton Lake. Winds blow from the south down the entire length of the valley creating serious waves. Canoes and boats under 5ms should avoid this lake. Night skies here rank # 3 on the Bortle Scale. See the official web site link below for fees, opening and closing dates.
