Location/Description
Location: Located on the Ice Fields Parkway near the Columbia Icefields 107kms south of Jasper and approximately 111kms north of Lake Louise. Jasper National Park.
Description: Wilcox Creek Campground contains 4 terraced loops containing 46 campsites. There are a few sharp turns edged with large trees showing evidence of trailer scrapes. If your RV is over 10ms or 30Ft you may scrape trees on these turns and or not fit into the campsites, if so stay at the Icefields Centre RV campground parking lot located 1km west. Campground amenities include piped water, dry toilets, camp kitchen with a wood stove, fire pits and picnic tables. Fire wood is available when purchasing a fire permit.
This area is absolutely beautiful and deserves a few days to explore. Parker Ridge located 3kms east of the campground is a short hike with outstanding views of the Saskatchewan Glacier. Wilcox Pass trailhead is located here and leads to stunning views of the glaciated peaks, Mount Athabasca, Mount Andromeda, Athabasca Glacier and Snow Dome. Big Horn Sheep and Mountain Goats can also be seen throughout the area.
The Columbia Ice Fields tents only campground is only 1km away and is one of the nicest tent campgrounds found in the National Parks. This area would have to be considered the best of the Icefields Parkway. Don’t forget your binoculars and hiking gear. Night skies here rank #1 on the Bortle Scale. This is bear country, food and food related items must be stored properly
